Let Them Eat Pie

I am ashamed. Until this month, it had been more than 15 years since I had been inside a Marie Callender's. Current stats: I've been there three times since October 1st. So here's how it went... I was running on my treadmill when what do you know, a commercial for MC came on advertising their semi-annual pie sale. Only $5.99 for a whole pie! Hee, hee! Where had I been all these years? And here I was earning a pie while I watched the commercial! Lucky me! I headed down there and got one, and since I was having so much fun I made a little pact with myself to come back for another before Oct. 31st - the end of pie month or whatever. When I came in for my second, my son (who I had secretly hoped would stay in the car) wanted a different kind than I did, and in a moment of weakness I promised him we'd come back for his kind another day this month. What?!?!?! Did the butter shoot straight to the logic center of my brain? Or do they put something extra in the darn things that alters your thinking? Somehow, I was lured by the idea of PIE MONTH - it was intoxicating. Plus, I had been invited to Marie's pie party, and I can't turn down a party. So now I am a thrice pie eater extraordinaire. There you go.

Thanks for stopping by today and introducing yourself. That was the best TREAT ever--a mostly unsolicited comment! You were So kind.

As for MC. I drove past an old one is SLC by the zoo. . .and it was closed! I thought they all were closed and I didn't see that commercial so I didn't know what I was missing until now. I only have a few hours to decide if I want to hunt one down. BTW do you work for Marie?

For someone will your amazing self-control that is truly eventful. I've been known to drive all the way to Cheesecake Factory at Stoneridge because my skinny son begged me, so it happens to the best of us. But we do need to know what 3 kinds you chose, and what was the best.

Thank you for telling us about pie month the last day of the month so that we wouldn't be tempted.

My mother loves Marie Callendars.

I know--I admit I was a little sad when you said it ended Oct 31st! So is the next one next April? Do we need to mark this in our memory that General Conference month is also good deal on pie month?

-No, I don't work for Marie, thank goodness.

-Double Cream Blueberry, German Chocolate, and Double Cream Lemon in that order. The last two were best

-I confessed my sins to my VT and she helpfully told me that the next pie month is in February.

Janelle, one last thing I forgot to mention, I don't know how---I'm glad you now know the years of fun I had with my girls X's 5!! It actually never grew old playing dollies with my girlies as they grew up. Some things have changed with darling fashions available to adorn little females in, but since we thought those clothes you turn your nose up at and acuse your mother of dressing you in such weird stuff whenever you look at pictures from your childhood, were
the very top of fashion and actually WERE the top of fashion, I had just as much joy in you girliness as you do with your beautiful Ava. Welcome to MY club at last!!

Tonight Pam served Marie's pies after dinner. She got the idea from your blog. Thank you!

My husband had me sign a contract before we were married that there would ALWAYS be pie on hand in the fridge. Little known fact: pie is excellent for breakfast. All food groups represented.
My favorite is the double cream cherry.
